Muslim States’ Decision Making in the Face of Vitriol, Hostile Networks and Global Turmoil, by Akhtar Raja

On 15 October 2001 Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a sentence for heinous crimes against children, sent an email to 42 contacts. The email was found in the Epstein files selectively released by the US Department of Justice on 30 January 2026. It stated:

“It is the year 2032, and a father and his son walk the streets of lower Manhattan. Approaching the site where the WTC used to be in the end of the 20th century, the father sighs and comments, “to think that right here used to be the Twin Towers…” The son, not understanding, asks his father: “What are the Twin Towers? The father smiles and looks at the son, and explains, “The Twin Towers were two huge buildings that used to be here until 2001, when the Arabs destroyed them.” The son looks up to his father, and asks, and what are the Arabs?”

Ghislane Maxwell is the daughter of Robert Maxwell, widely believed to be an Israeli spy with connections to MI6 too, and the girlfriend of the convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. Both men died in unusual circumstances.

Another email from the Epstein files gives an insight into the level of hate which permeates the minds of those connected to the Epstein cabal. Referring to “[s]ome nasty Emirati kids” a person writes “…There’s nothing to do in the desert so we take whatever entertainment we can get! Even if it involves hurting small, furry mammals such as Arab children (but I would never hurt an animal they are real creatures). You should see what they do in Saudi for fun…”

Were these emails a transparent expression of a sentiment about the worthlessness of and fate planned for Arabs, or more generally, Muslims? A former Israeli intelligence officer, Ari Ben-Menashe, describes Epstein’s activities as one of Mossad’s tools. Although Epstein’s purpose and function could well have been wider in scope there is little doubt that his operation was intended to entrap and manipulate powerful and influential figures to aid, amongst other things, achievement of ultimate dominance in the Middle East by establishing a ‘Greater Israel’. Other tools include the Palestinian Genocide, Israel acting in gross violation of international law with impunity, ongoing Israeli military and political interference, directly and indirectly, to fuel conflict and destabilisation in Sudan , Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, and Somaliland. Iran remains on Israel’s long-standing shopping list and doubtless vigorous manoeuvring and manipulation helped to get President Trump to play ball. He made the US jump into the fray having weighed that against preserving his commercial interests relating to the Middle East, avoiding being further maligned, and some of U.S’s own intelligence which did not appear to be favourable to starting another unwinnable war, setting the region alight, and destabilising international markets even further.

The Epstein horror show has also drawn the curtains on the nature of British politics which is going through a period of renewed levels of toxicity and hypocrisy. The British government and oligarchic media have consigned the Epstein linked crimes to something which they claim only affects individual political standing in the eyes a domestic electorate. The Epstein evidence is actually linked to much of the West’s more audacious goals for which, ironically, Israel itself is also a tool. In the meantime the UK is helping the US Israeli initiated war by giving the US access to military bases for strikes on Iran.

Prime Minister Starmer, a former human rights lawyer and chief prosecutor, agreed with cutting off water and power to civilians (half of whom were children) during the Palestinian Genocide in December 2023. His government has remained complicit in the genocide in other ways – militarily, diplomatically and by providing intelligence. His finance minister, Rachel Reeves, who is regarded as the second most influential figure after him, described herself as an “unapologetic Zionist” during a speech before the Labour Friends of Israel annual lunch on 8 December 2025. The Palestinian Genocide did not trigger calls for the resignation of Starmer and his henchmen in the same way as the frenzy caused by Epstein’s relationship with a member of Starmer’s political party, Peter Mandelson.

It is hard to understand how the British establishment can disavow a deeper connection with Epstein and support for a wider purpose. It may well be willing to throw a few high-profile figures under the bus (given what has been revealed by the Epstein evidence) to deflect attention from its deep-rooted support for Israel’s modus operandi and its own colonial DNA.

Mandelson, the disgraced former ambassador to the US who has a documented record of corruption, and is aptly named the ‘Prince of Darkness’, took post despite his publicly known close links to Epstein. Mandelson also passed on State confidential information to Epstein. Starmer says he relied on the answers given to him by Mandelson about his links with Epstein before deciding to appoint him. However, Emily Thornberry MP has said the level of due diligence undertaken before the appointment was kept limited despite serious calls for a wider enquiry. Is it conceivable that a candidate for a sensitive key post was not the subject of scrutiny by the intelligence agencies, or did they otherwise silently acquiesce for ulterior reasons? Corporate media is working overtime to assist with some damage limitation by minimising Epstein’s links to Israel. There were brief calls for Starmer’s resignation while highlighting loss of his moral authority. He was described as a ‘zombie’ leader. Until he is kicked out by the British electorate he will remain a player in the subtle and not so subtle dismantling of the Muslimness of the Middle East.

The Palestinian Genocide did not result in the same destabilising political turmoil despite what lay open in UK’s own backyard. Declassified UK, an independent investigative journalism organisation reported that more than 2,000 Britons served in the IDF during the Palestinian Genocide as of March 2025. In his book ‘Complicit: Britain’s Role in the Destruction of Gaza’, investigative journalist Peter Oborne sets out how British politicians and a “blood-soaked” media establishment have been active accomplices in Israel’s campaign. And now the UK government’s ban on the protest group Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws has been ruled unlawful by the High Court. Palestine Action was proscribed alongside the likes of ISIS. The ban represented politically created injustice. The Muslim Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, is appealing the decision.

In the face of complex and intricate networks presenting an inversion of truth and working actively against Muslims and Muslim states where does the truth lie? You could be forgiven for thinking that the state of international affairs makes Pandora’s box seem like a short-lived fever and that the number of moves in a chess game gives the measure of potential outcomes we are facing on the world stage.

Islam professes truth in absolute terms. Allah claims infallibility. Islamic eschatology describes in detail what is to follow in human history: the magnitude of world wars, the horrendous scale of losses, the depth of injustice and the overt manifestation of a collision between truth and falsity. This will be caused by human claims of godhood.

There are two clear and distinct choices for Muslims. Individuals and heads of states can recognise an exclusive divine Power and make their decisions subject to an unwavering alignment with that Power from a position of subordination. The alternative is a superficial acceptance of an Ultimate Power, or even rejection of it, as a result of an innate pride which gives preference to a person’s own decision-making ability over any commitment to a singular deity.

As we enter a far more tumultuous period in history the struggle for power over justice will translate into further wars. The achievement of justice will be down to a monotheistic cause referable to a singular Power and its framework of morals. Neo Zionism regards itself as an amoral unchallengeable power striving for dominance, and wealth. To succeed it has to extinguish any cohesion behind those relinquishing themselves to a unitary authority including by co-opting some states and individuals labelled ‘Muslim’. Muslim states must resist the severing of their “bonds of kinship” or face the pain of divide and rule striving for a Sykes-Picot version 2.0 named Greater Israel. Fortunately, the latter will not get past Beta testing but avoiding suffering pain along the way may not be that easy.

For a Muslim state to achieve effective sovereignty, at its heart, and in its conduct, it will need to recognise actual Sovereignty which lies with the Ultimate Power. Consequently, whilst exercising freewill decisions need to be made in favour of that Power even though outcomes are predetermined. There is a further category of sovereignty established by the ideological unification of Muslim states whilst maintaining their individual identities and self-governance. That has been foretold and perhaps is the real reason for the ferocity of countervailing forces which resort to genocide, war, and the Epstein technique. In the meantime, each Muslim state must make one of two choices.
